Sapporo
Sapporo is the capital of Hokkaido, the northernmost island of Japan. Hokkaido has attracted tourists worldwide as a natural sanctuary of wild life. As its capital, Sapporo has a developed public transportation system (railways and subways), together with a variety of comfortable accommodations and meeting facilities. Access
We recommend the following access route to the venue.
Sapporo New Chitose Airport (CTS) connects to major Japanese cities (Narita-Tokyo NRT, Haneda-Tokyo HND, Chubu Centrair –Nagoya NGO, Kansai–Osaka KIX) as well as international destinations in East Asia / Pacific (Seoul, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Yuzhno-Sakha-linsk, Guam and Taipei). The connection to two airports in Tokyo (Narita and Haneda, ca. 60 flights per day) is probably one of the busiest one in the world. Please ask your local travel agent for your best flights to Sapporo. No bullet trains are available, and ordinary local train service is not recommended.
Rapid service trains run every 15 min from the Sapporo New Chitose Airport to JR Sapporo Station in 36 min. Buses, taxis and rent-a-car are also available. Tickets are available on site.
City, Hotels and Venue
Most hotels are located in the areas south of the JR Sapporo Station. Hotels in districts Odori / Susukino / Nakajima Koen are recommended as these are within walking range of the central city. By subway (Green Nanboku line), these districts are just 1 (Odori), 2 (Susukino) or 3 stops (Nakajima Koen) from the JR Sapporo Station. City maps are available at:
Sapporo Convention Center (SORA) is located near Higashi-Sapporo subway station, 3 stops (6 min) from the Odori subway station plus 8 min walk. Buses and taxi are available from the city center. Food court in a nearby shopping center and a small restaurant in SORA serve you a variety of lunch options.
Hokkaido University is the venue for satellite events. The Sapporo campus is located north-west of the JR Sapporo Station in 10 min walk.
