The second global COE retreat was held at Yatsugatake Royal Hotel, Kitamori, Yamanasi, on March 7 to 8. We had over 450 participants who were the members from thirteen labs of the graduate school of medicine, ten labs of the graduate school of science, six labs of the institute of molecular and cellular biosciences and also other research assistants of the graduate school of science and invited foreign researchers.

In this retreat, there were nine oral presentations and 266 poster presentations for two days. The research interests presented here were distinctively wide; for example, the materials for research were human, monkey, mouse, frog, fish, insect, plant, yeast, cyanobacteria…and so on. The participants had a chance to find the researcher who shared the research interest and to hear the researches which had never been seen before. In the closing remarks, all the winners of the poster award had short-talk for one minute. They introduced themselves, and talked about their interests and policy for their research.
