演題:Adaptive Significance of Storytelling in Indigenous Societies : Individual Fitness and Group-Level Benefits
要旨
The adaptive significance of storytelling in four distinct indigenous tribes – the Hadza (hunter-gatherers), Maasai and Datoga (pastoralists) from Tanzania, Africa, and the Asmat people (hunter-gatherers) from West Papua, Indonesia – will be the focus of this seminar. Findings on how storytelling impacts individual fitness within the Tanzanian societies will be presented.
Furthermore, the seminar will examine storytelling as a group-level adaptation, particularly in the context of infectious disease outbreaks. The case of the Asmat people will illustrate how their traditional epidemic stories provided behavioral guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This seminar will be presented by Kiriakos Chatzipentidis (MA), PhD Student at the Doctoral School of Psychology, University of Wrocław, Poland.
