Admission for International Students


Applicants to the Department of Biological Sciences are required to report their GRE General Test score.

Applicants may submit their GRE Subject Test score (in Biology, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry) instead of a GRE General Test score.

Applicants may be asked to take an individual online assessment by the Department of Biological Sciences within a few months after the graduate school office receives their GRE and TOEFL scores. IELTS cannot be substituted for TOEFL.

Annoucement regarding the Special Selection for International Applicants
(Updated Sep. 28, 2023)

Applicants for the Special Selection for International Students who apply between October 10 and October 31, 2023 may be required to take an individual online assessment (about 1hour) conducted by the Department of Biological Sciences somewhere in the following dates.

Nov 30 (Thu) 8:30-18:30 JST
Dec 1 (Fri) 8:30-13:30 JST
Applicants are asked to secure these dates.

 

 

Global Science Graduate Course (GSGC)


The Department of the Biological Sciences also accepts the applications through Global Science Graduate Course (GSGC). GSGC is an international graduate program in the Graduate School of Science at the University of Tokyo, providing a five-year integrated education scheme in which students attend both the Master's program and the Doctoral program in sequence.

Students on GSGC are also provided with a monthly scholarship during their time on the program and support in finding employment following graduation.
