The prevalence of antibiotic resistance and decrease in novel antibiotic discovery alarm us to identify novel bioactive natural products. In this seminar, I would like to introduce you the charming points of the class Ktedonobacteria, a unique bacterial lineage that we propose to be a promising next-generation microbial in the post-antibiotic era. This seminar will include four parts: 1) The unique taxonomic traits of Ktedonobacteria; 2) General genome features and biosynthetic potential of Ktedonobacteria revealed by in silico analysis; 3) In vitro antimicrobial activity of Ktedonobacteria and fermentation-driven discovery of novel bioactive compound; 4) Attempts to clone a type II polyketide synthase gene cluster to heterologously express a novel anthraquinone compound. Any comments and/or advices to the researches would be grateful.
