Cryo-EM analysis of Plasmodium ribosome bound with an unknown factor

Ribosome was quickly purified from Plasmodium falciparum and analyzed by cryo-EM. Particles are extensively classified depending on tRNAs and factors in the A and P sites. In some classes, there is an extra density composed of a tRNA and an unknown protein in the EF1A binding site. We identified the protein and found that it is extremely conserved in all three domains of life.
Unpublished cryo-EM researches on mitochondrial ribosomes from human and Neurospora will be also presented.
