Admission for International Students


Applicants to the Department of Biological Sciences are required to report their GRE General Test score.

Applicants may submit their GRE Subject Test score (in Biology, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry) instead of a GRE General Test score.

Applicants may be asked to take an individual online assessment by the Department of Biological Sciences within a few months after the graduate school office receives their GRE and TOEFL scores. IELTS cannot be substituted for TOEFL.

Annoucement regarding the Special Selection for International Applicants
(Updated Apr. 24, 2024)

The Department of Biological Sciences conducts an individual online assessment lasting about 1 hour for applicants for the special selection for international students.

Assessment Dates:
November 27, 2024 (JST): For applicants who apply from October 10 to October 31, 2024.
February 5, 2025 (JST): For applicants who apply from December 16, 2024, to January 6, 2025.

Applicants should ensure availability for the above date according to the application period.

 

 

Global Science Graduate Course (GSGC)


The Department of the Biological Sciences also accepts the applications through Global Science Graduate Course (GSGC). GSGC is an international graduate program in the Graduate School of Science at the University of Tokyo, providing a five-year integrated education scheme in which students attend both the Master's program and the Doctoral program in sequence.

Students on GSGC are also provided with a monthly scholarship during their time on the program and support in finding employment following graduation.
